The OEM EcoBoost crank flange is not designed to transmit the torque that is being made by built EcoBoosts now days. This leads to fretting between the crank and flywheel/flexplate surfaces which will damage both surfaces, cause the fasteners to come loose, and in some cases ruins the crank. This diamond coated washer will increase the coefficient of friction between these surfaces eliminating the possibility of fretting, which also means no more flywheel/flexplate bolts coming loose after a few drag passes. Thus increasing the maximum torque the system can withstand without failure!!”
